FINDING THE MOST RESPONSIBLE PLANET

After a long time researching, we landed on a pretty sweet one: sugarcane. We were aware that other plants, such as corn or soy, might be also used to create plant-based plastic, but we decided on sugarcane because of its dense growth. Since it uses smaller area than the others, farming it requires less energy and resources. Considering that it receives almost all of its water requirements from natural rainfall, sugarcane is also a remarkably water-efficient plant. This is fantastic because it uses less energy and doesn’t intentionally divert clean water from another usage! Additionally, sugarcane absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere as it grows, just like all plants do, providing a natural defence against the greenhouse effect. Every year, it is totally harvested and regrown, absorbing additional CO2 from the environment.
